Recently, the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (hereinafter referred to as “EUSPA”) released the 2022 EO and GNSS Market Report (hereinafter referred to as “the Report”).
Please refer to https://www.gsceuropa.eu/sites/default/files/sites/all/files /EUSPA_Market_report_2022.pdf for the full report.
After the EU Regulation No.2021/696 (Space Regulation) came into effect on 12 May 2021, the European Global Navigation Satellite System Agency (GSA) has been replaced and succeeded by the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA). With the establishment of EUSPA, EU Space has stepped onto a new track. The launch of EUSPA marks the beginning of a new era of EU space. EUSPA will create opportunities for the EU to play a stronger role in space.
From 2010 to 2019, GSA has published six GNSS Market Reports, and this year is the seventh one. The report is researched and compiled by a team of15 experts from different fields and market research companies, and has been supported by more than 50 external organizations. The latest report enables readers to understand the downstream industries of the space industry, and gain opportunities and experiences from this rapid developing market. Since its publication, this report series has become one of the most authoritative references for global GNSS news and technology development trends, and has been cited by industry decision-makers and business leaders all over the world, becoming an indispensable part of GNSS construction and application service promotion, and it is also a valuable reference for European enterprises to formulate market access strategies for new GNSS products and services.
The Report combines the market and application development of the former two European Commission (EC) Copernicus (the EU Earth Observation Program) market reports and the former six GSA GNSS Market Reports, providing earth observations in up to 17 market segments and the global GNSS application, including agriculture, aviation & unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), climate, consumer solutions, energy, environmental monitoring, road, railway, marine application, etc.
The global GNSS market will maintain steady growth in next decade.
According to the Report, it is estimated that the global annual shipment of GNSS receivers will continue to increase from 1.8 billion units in 2021 to 2.5 billion units in 2031, of which the Asia-Pacific region will remain the largest market.
The number of GNSS devices will reach 10 billion, dominated by the consumer solutions.
Installed base of GNSS devices by segment
It is estimated that by 2031, the global installed base of GNSS devices will exceed 10 billion, in which, the dominant sector, consumer solutions, together with tourism & health, road & automobiles, contributes the largest share of GNSS devices, reaching as much as 98%.
Allystar is listed on the key component and receiver manufacturers of consumer solutions again
The consumer solutions sector, which are dominant in several aspects such as market scale, total devices, total installed bases and revenue share, has become the focus of the Report. It represents the mainstream of global GNSS application development, and the development direction of scale application of China’s Beidou system. According to the industry chain, the Report sorts out the key enterprises in different links in consumer solutions, tourism and health. Allystar is rated as excellent component and receiver manufacturers in the industrial chain.
This is the second time that Allystar is rated on the list of key global consumer solutions manufacturers after 2019 GSA GNSS Market Report. It shows that Allystar has once again reached the peak of chip development in Beidou high-precision applications, and won a global reputation in GNSS industry with its hard strength.
Aiming to high-precision applications, Allystar has independently designed, developed and mass-produced the world’s first multi-system multi-frequency baseband RF integrated high-precision chip supporting BDS-3 system, and is the largest supplier of high-precision navigation and positioning chips in three Chinses bike-sharing companies (DIDI Bike, Meituan Bike and Hello Bike). Cooperating with Chinese cell phone manufacturers, Allystar has also jointly released the world’s first dual-band Beidou high-precision positioning mobile phone, and has extensive cooperation with its shareholders such as SAIC Motor and BYD in intelligent driving and autopilot. With Allystar’s ranking in the key links of the industrial chain, it proves that China’s Beidou chips and solutions have made a figure in the world, which drives China’s Beidou mass consumer applications from the source of the industrial chain to the world.
Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC issued the latest document to put more efforts to promote Beidou consumer solutions
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC issued “Opinions of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC on Beidou Application Promotion in Consumer Solutions” (hereinafter referred to as “the Opinions”). The Opinions put forward that it is necessary to cultivate new applications for Beidou consumer solutions, enrich Beidou product forms, foster new modes and new formats for Beidou applications, and support enterprises to grow better and stronger. Relying on the advantages of domestic super-large-scale market, we should play a leading role of leading enterprises, strengthen upstream and downstream coordination of industrial chain, and build a healthy and sustainable Beidou industrial chain and supply chain in the consumer solutions sector.
According to the Opinions, China needs to enrich Beidou location service for intelligent terminals, carry out pilot demonstration of high-precision positioning for smart phones, and improve the multi-integration positioning capability of smart phones and wearables. That is to expand Beidou application in vehicle terminals, promote the application of Beidou high-precision positioning technology in the Internet of Vehicles (IoVs), and improve the penetration rate of Beidou in automotive applications; and to promote the application of Beidou multi-frequency positioning, high-precision positioning and other technologies in bike-sharing to regulate the parking order of shared bikes and support the intelligent and fine urban management.
The Opinions especially proposes to break through critical core technologies and design new products. According to the application requirements of consumer solutions, we will focus on making breakthrough in a series of key technologies, accelerating the R&D and industrialization of key components and Beidou chips with high precision, low power consumption, low cost and miniaturization figure, and forming a system solution integrating Beidou with new information technologies such as 5G, IoTs and IoVs. The “14th Five-Year Plan” is a critical period for Beidou application promotion, as well as a critical stage for expanding application, cultivating ecology and promoting integration, in which new situations, new opportunities and new challenges also occur to consumer solutions sector. This is exactly the same as the judgment and prediction of the Report issued by EUSPA, in which points out the direction for Beidou’s development in consumer solutions sector.
In fact, China’s leading enterprises in Beidou industry have been keeping up with international trends and national policies, and planned the “CHIP” layout in Beidou high-precision application earlier. Allystar has made active exploration and achieved some results in the mass consumer market with three major areas emphasized in the Opinions, and planned a complete chip product line focusing on intelligent terminal applications, vehicle applications, high-precision applications and secure Beidou applications.
According to the Opinions, during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, Beidou industry will enter the fast lane of high-quality development. As the upstream of Beidou industrial chain, critical technologies and chips are the foundation and support of Beidou industry. As a chip manufacturer with core R&D and design capabilities, Allystar’s technological innovation and core technology advantages are highly recognized by customers and industry. It is believed that in the future, Allystar will continue to enhance its R&D and innovation capabilities, maintain its technological leadership, and enrich the product line. Following the “Belt and Road Initiative”, Allystar will integrate the world’s leading GNSS chip R&D resources, exert itself in the global market, to help prosper the Beidou mass consumer market, to promote “China’s Chip” to serve Beidou applications, and further to serve the world.
